We’ve seen many videos for the Nokia N900, one of the most hyped smartphones in the latest months, and here we bring another one: the unboxing of the N900 and a demonstration of the main features on the phone. The video quality is very good as well, so it’s definitely worth watching.

We’ll leave you to it! Enjoy!

Still a few days before the Nokia N900 is launched, the new smartphone with the Maemo OS built on Linux. But we found one of the first commercial ads for the cellphone. The time counter still on the video makes it a probably leaked video.

Anyway, we’ll leave you to it. Enjoy!

The cellphone market isn’t made only of touchscreen smartphones with the latest generation of technology features. There’s also that part of the market that doesn’t care much about the advanced software, to whom the most important features on a phone are the battery, the calls and the messages. To those people, Nokia dedicates their new 6316.

There’s not much information about the phone for now, but we think it will be a rather simple device with simple features. The price and availability haven’t yet been announced.

    Conclusion

In a nutshell, it’s a very good phone, and since it’s a more economic model, it has a good price/performance ratio. It can be seen as a minor version of the Nokia E75, although it is heavier and built with different materials. In fact, the size on the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is slightly bigger than expected.

The keyboard is perhaps one of the best featured on a smartphone nowadays, and it’s the same quality as the E75, only the graphic on the keys changing. Nokia should, however, pay more attention to the music player, being an XpressMusic model, we expected more from it. The messenging part is this phone’s strong point, if you use SMS, MMS, mail or social networks, then this is a good model for you. But if you prefer a smaller and less bulky phone, better look elsewhere.

The telephony part of the phone is above the expectations. The sound coming from the speakers is clear, and also the handsfree is rather good, despite the phone having only one speaker, instead of two for a possible stereo sound.

The battery is enough to last one full day with heavy usage of SMS, data connection and calls. If the GPS is used, then it lasts a little less, but it’s predictable as the GPS tends to have a higher battery requirement.

The quality problems in pictures taken indoors isn’t a exclusive problem to this model, it is present in most photo modules integrated on cellphones like these, which are usually partially solved with firmware updates.

The video are done with VGA resolution, or as Nokia likes to say, DVD quality. And the video is actually very good, the 30 fps make it smooth and the integrated microphone has a great range and captures a rather clean sound.

    Other Features

Besides the software mentioned before, it also has the Nokia Maps installed on its 2.0 version, which is free to consult but it has a fee for the turn-by-turn navigation. The GPS fixes itself in a few minutes without an assisting system, while when helped by such system, it fixes itself in a few seconds.

The photo area has the Zeiss lens on its favor, which is a well-known name and now a trademark on Nokia devices. Although the presence of the Zeiss lens, the photo system isn’t without faults: in normal environments, the pictures are great in colors and details, when indoors, there are some quality issues.

The home screen features the horizontal icons that give fast access to 6 chosen applications, be that the appointments, mail or the wireless network availability.

Besides the more classic mode, there’s also the new vertical icon visualization, typical from devices with the Feature Pack 2, and the new contact bar that is customizable. The latter allows users to have a fast access to the messenging functions in order to contact friends.
